What filament does this printer use? Where can i buy more?

This printer uses standard-sized 1.75mm PLA, PLA+, PLA pro, & TPU filament. The integrated spool holder can hold spool sizes up to 250grams. If using larger spools (such as 1kg), you will need to use an external spool holder (not included). PLA filament spools are readily available on Amazon and in any store that sells 3D printers. Doing a search on Amazon for "250g PLA filament" will yield many results that will fit this printer.

My project is stuck on the plate and I cant remove it.

If your project has finished printing and you are having a hard time removing it, detach the magnetic bed plate from the printer and bend the bed plate back and forth until your print releases. Manually heating up the plate first will also make it easier to release and peel off. To heat up the plate, go to: Menu > Control > Temperature > Bed and then set the highest temperature available.

My printer is making a loud sound, like something is jammed.

If your printer is making a jamming sound when the nozzle head is trying to move, then there are 2 likely causes for this:
  • There is an obstruction that is stopping the head from moving
    If the problem is happening when turning on the printer for the FIRST time, then you may have not removed the yellow shipping puck/spacer and the tape that is on the printer mechanism. The printer is shipped with a yellow shipping puck to prevent expansion of the aluminum coupler. This needs to be removed so that the printer head can freely go up and down on the Z-axis. In addition, there is typically tape wrapped around on the horizontal X-rods that prevents the head from moving left to right. This will need to be removed as well.


    If there is a jamming sound that happens after you've already used it before, then it could be some other obstruction, such as a foreign object, that is blocking the movement of the X, Y, or Z axis. Check for any possible physical obstructions.

  • One of your endstops may be broken or disconnected
    The printer has an endstop switch for each axis (X, Y, Z) which is a type of limiter that is triggered when the nozzle head reaches maximum range of movement along each axis. When the endstop is triggered, it tells the motor to stop moving the nozzle. If any of these endstops is disconnected or damaged, the motor will try to make the nozzle keep moving past its limit and cause a jamming sound.

    Confirm that the endstops are working


    Do a quick mechanical check of the switches by finding the the 3 endstops shown in the photo above. Press on the red switch to make sure there is a solid click sound. If it does not make a click sound, then it may be bad and will need to be replaced. Now to confirm that the printer is getting a signal from the switch, go to "Menu > Prepare > Endstops" where you will see the X, Y, Z axis displayed with the "Off" or "On" label next to it. Now click on the red switches again and check to be sure that the display goes back and forth between "On" and "Off" as you are clicking on each switch.

    What to do if the endstops do not work?

    If the endstop buttons have a solid click sound but they do not work normally as described above, then there may be a loose cable. Check the cable connection next to each switch to be sure it is securely connected. In addition, check the opposite end of this cable where it is connected to the printer motherboard. These are the 3 connections that you need to check as shown and circled in the photo below. Each one corresponds to a specific axis. If these cables have been previously disconnected, then you must make sure they are reconnected correctly for each axis.

I am getting a "Homing failed, PRINTER HALTED" error message.

A "Homing Failed" message is received when the nozzle fails to reach its home position for any reason on any of its X, Y, or Z axis. This error message is usually caused by an obstruction or a problem with the endstop, please refer to the section above.

Another possible reason is a loose or disconnected belt on one of the X or Y axis. Please check each belt to see if they are loose, disconnected or damaged. The Y axis belt is at the very bottom of the printer. Flip the printer upside down to get a clear view of this belt.

Why is the printer creating a spaghetti-like mess at the BEGINNING of the print?

Spaghetti incidents are usually caused by one of these two issues:

  1. If it happens near the beginning of the print, then the likely cause is incorrect Z-offset (the starting distance between the nozzle tip and the print bed)
  2. If it happens in the middle of the print, then the likely cause is bed adhesion (the ability of the print to remain stuck to the bed during printing)

Z-Offset Adjustment

If the issue happens at the beginning of the print, then it is likely that z-offset setting needs to be calibrated so that the gap between the nozzle and print bed is at the optimal distance for layer adhesion. Although this is adjusted at the factory, this setting may need to be adjusted occasionally due to shipping forces or temperature changes that causes parts to expand/contract. Here's how:

  1. Go to > Menu > Control > Probe Z Offset and wait for the short bed-leveling calibration procedure to finish and for the nozzle to come down right above the bed.
  2. Use a piece of printing paper and put in between the nozzle and bed to gauge the gap (~0.1-0.2mm is the optimal gap).
  3. Use the control knob to adjust the gap until the paper has some resistance but you can still easily slide the paper around.
  4. Press the control knob to set the Z-offset. Now you're ready to print

Bed adhesion

If the issue happens in the middle of the print, then the print may be slipping/shifting on the plate due to bed adhesion issues. This causes the print to go out of alignment and often results in the nozzle printing in the air which creates a spaghetti-like mess. Here are some tips to improve bed adhesion on your print to avoid this:
  • Ensure that the bed plate is completely clean. Use a solution of Isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the plate eliminate dirt and oils. Avoid touching the bed plate with your bare hands and avoid using any cleaners that leave any residue behind.
  • Apply a thin layer of glue on the bed using the included glue pen to increase the print adhesion. This is a trick that may hobbyists use.
  • Avoid putting the printer on surfaces that introduces strong vibrations and avoid bumping into printer during printing. This could potentially misalign the nozzle position or knock the print loose.
  • Ensure the nozzle temperature is over 200 degrees when it starts printing and that the bed is warmed up at least 30 degrees. These 2 values are shown on the printers display screen when printing.
Other less common causes of spaghetti-like messes include the following:
  • Poor supports / lack of support. This is print-dependent.
  • A partially clogged nozzle which causes uneven extrusion
  • A damaged or heavily worn filament tube (aka. Bowden tube) which can cause friction that will affect the feeding of filament.
  • Overtightening of the outer hex screw for the spring-loaded filament feeding lever. This leads to uneven extrusion.

Why is my printer printing squiggly lines instead of printing straight?

If your printer starts my squiggly (non-straight) lines when it starts printing, then this is likely due to an incorrect Z-offset setting which creates too big of a gap between the nozzle and the bed. Follow the instructions in this section to properly configure the Z-offset.

How do I print through WIFI from the app?

In order to print from the app, there is a 3 step process. These steps are also shown in your Unboxing Guide that is included with the printer:

  1. Install the app, register, and login

  2. Setup the Wifi through the app
  3. Register your machine with the app using the QR code.
    Once this is done, your printer will show up as Online in your app (this takes around 30 seconds). You can now start printing from the app.

How do I print a print file (.STL) that i've downloaded?

STL files are the most common print format and can be readily be downloaded from many popular 3D print sites. The app allows you to easily import these files. Before starting, make sure your printer is already set up for printing through Poloprint Cloud.

In the app, click on the "Me" tab on the bottom-right. Then click on "Profile" and then click on the Plus (+) sign. In the next screen, click "Add Model" and find the STL file on your phone. (see the screenshots below)


Once added, you will see the file name show up near the top of the screen. Click "Next" and then give it a name and then click "Submit".  Once submitted, you can see that it adds the print to your collection in your Profile. Click the print that you've just added and then choose "Print".

I'm getting a download error when printing from the app.

Check that the MicroSD card (also known as a TF card)  is fully inserted into the printer. In most cases, the card is already installed in the printer slot. If you don't see it preinstalled, check for it in the accessories bag. This card is required even when printing through the app because it the app uploads the print file to the card before printing. If there are issues with your card or if it needs a replacement, please refer to the next section below.

I have a problem with my MicroSD (TF) card or need to replace it.

If your printer is unable to read card or if you are still getting a download error even though you've inserted the card, then it usually caused by either a bad (corrupted) card or an incompatible card (if you've replaced your card).

To test your card for corruption, remove the card from the printer (press down on the card to pop it up). Then insert it into the included USB card reader and then plug the reader into a computer. Check that the computer can read files off of the card and also try copying some files to the card to make sure the card is writable.  If your computer can read and write on the card, then the card is still good.

Your printer comes with an 8gb MicroSD card. If you are replacing your card with another one, please know that the printer will only work with MicroSD cards up to 32gb. These cards are usually advertised as MicroSDHC or just MicroSD. The printer is not compatible with cards over 32gb, which are usually advertised as MicroSDXC. These larger cards uses a different file system that the printer can't read.

Filament is not coming out of the nozzle / how do I unclog my printer?

If you find that filament has stopped coming out of the nozzle, then you may be experiencing a clog. Watch the following videos on steps on how to unclog the machine:


The flow of filament coming out of the nozzle is very inconsistent, how do i fix this?

A successful print depends on a consistent print lines that is a consistent thickness without varying between thin and thick. This can be easily observed during the first layer of printing but is best observed during the purging process that takes place during the "Load Filament" process. Follow these steps to best observe the flow of filament coming out of the nozzle:

  1. Access the menu and go to Prepare > Change Filament > Load Filament > Preheat PLA
  2. Follow instructions to feed the filament. If the filament is already installed, then skip ahead to the purging step.
  3. Let the filament purge through the nozzle and observe how smoothly and consistently it comes out. If its not completely smooth, allow it to run for a minute or two to see if it smoothens out. This purging process can sometimes clear minor clogs from the new filament flowing through it.

If the flow is not smooth and does not smooth out during this process, then this inconsistency may be caused by one of these problems:

Cause #1: Partial clog of the nozzle or hotend

In the case of clogs and partial clogs, please refer to this section on how to clear it up.

Cause #2: Feeding issues stemming from the extruder mechanism

The extruder mechanism is the device that sits on the left side of the printer which is responsible for pushing the filament through towards the hotend and nozzle. This mechanism is primarily made up of the extruder gear and the spring-tensioned thumb lever. There are 2 areas in this mechanism that requires attention:

  1. The spring-tensioned thumb lever has an orange spring with a thumb screw securing it. Please ensure that this screw is fully tightened by hand so that the spring tension applies enough pressure so that the extruder gear can grip on and feed the filament.
  2. There is an allen/hex screw that acts as a hinge for this lever. Please DO NOT tighten this screw since it will affect the thumb lever tension. It should be only tight enough to secure the lever in place but it should not be tightened enough to apply any friction to the pivot point of the lever.

Cause #3: A heavily worn or damaged filament tube or tube connector.

A worn or damaged filament tube causes extra friction for the filament going through it. Inspect the tube carefully to see if there are any tight bends or pinches that could be affecting the filament movement.

The tube connector (also known as a pneumatic connector) is a locking device that secures each end of the tube. When printing or feeding filament, please observe that both ends of the tube remains locked into the connector at all times. If either send of the tube becomes loose, then there will be a feeding problem.
